Investigating the Root-Rhizosphere Interactions

Picture
Picture
Our research strives to unravel the biogeochemical processes that shape  ecosystem responses to global changes.  We are interested in understanding the cross-talk between roots and the associated microbiome in shaping various rhizosphere processes that influence the resilience and productivity of ecosystems.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
  • How do climate change and soil nutrient heterogeneity alter root plasticity and root-rhizosphere interactions?
  • How do these altered root-rhizosphere interactions influence soil carbon cycling and storage?
  • How can we utilize root-rhizosphere interactions to improve the resilience and sustainability of ecosystems?
We undertake both field and lab experiments spanning from forest to agro-ecosystems and utilize a multi-disciplinary approach including analytical chemistry to answer these questions.
